Sunday was a big night for Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda, and he started it off with a solid cry.
Miranda, who was nominated for Best Original Song for Moana's "How Far I'll Go," appeared on the red carpet with his mom. While chatting with E! News' Live From the Red Carpet host Ryan Seacrest, the New York native got a very special surprise.
Directing Miranda's attention to a screen, fans watched as Seacrest stopped Miranda in his tracks. In the pre-recorded video, Hamilton stars Jordan Fisher and Taran Killam began to sing "How Far I'll Go" dressed in their Hamilton character costumes.
Miranda was understandably touched.
"I hate you for making me cry before the Oscars have even started," he said through tears. "That was amazing. Thank you. Thank you for that. That's incredible."
Good moves, Seacrest. Good moves.
The night is especially momentous for Miranda, who if he wins, will become the youngest person in history with EGOT status — those who have been awarded an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and a Tony.
