Japanese Lingerie Maker Introduces Jury Bra

Japanese lingerie line Triumph International has gained attention in the past for annually releasing one bizarre bra that touches on a current social issue. This year, behold the Jury Bra of the 2009 Spring/Summer collection, designed to reflect the citizen judge system that will be implemented in Japan during May of next year.

According to the Japan Times, the new system will allow ordinary citizens to participate in criminal proceedings, acting as judges and helping to decide the outcome of trials. This marks a dramatic change for a country that has not historically given citizens the ability to give their opinions in trials.

You have to admire the cultural relevance, but I can't help but wonder which garments would not show those ubiquitous bra straps.

Here are a few other unmentionables that Triumph has given us in the last few years, from InventorSpot:

The Warmbiz Heated Bra.
The Heated Bra, introduced to encourage everyone to dress for seasonal weather and reduce energy costs. Looks cozy!

The Anti-Smoking Bra
The Anti-Smoking Bra, which actually releases a scent that makes you not want to smoke.

The "My Chopsticks" Bra
The "My Chopsticks" Bra, which features two food bowls in the bra cups. One bowl is miso soup, and the other holds rice, and those little wood blocks that hold chopsticks are in between. Yum. The ensemble is intended to reflect the environmental impact of using wood chopsticks.
