Roald Dahl's The BFG remains one of the most cherished children's stories of all time, so it's a good thing Disney is doing it justice.
In Steven Spielberg's new film adaptation of the 1982 novel, Academy Award-winner Mark Rylance portrays "The BFG," or "Big Friendly Giant." He and 10-year-old orphan/heroine Sophie (Ruby Barnhill) become unlikely friends and allies as they work to avoid the other giants (Bill Hader, Jemaine Clement), who eat little boys and girls.
In the movie's first trailer, Sophie and The BFG go from her orphanage to Giant Country, where they're seen navigating the vivid lands and embarking upon a grand mission. The detail and iridescence of the scenes are breathtaking.
The BFG hits theaters this summer, July 1, 2016.
