Neville Longbottom Wrote J.K. Rowling the Sweetest Birthday Note

Matthew Lewis knows it's important to remember where you came from — and who helped you get there.

To celebrate J.K. Rowling's 50th birthday on July 31, Time asked 17 Harry Potter veterans to send the author some birthday wishes. Lewis, who played Neville Longbottom and has become the poster child for dork-to-stud transformations, went beyond the basic HBD message and offered up a super sweet note explaining how much of an impact Rowling has had on his life.

He says:

“I could talk about the millions of lives Jo has enriched whether through the stories and characters she’s created or through the millions of pounds she’s given to charity. She’s a remarkable woman. However, I would like to thank Jo for changing MY life. Without her imagination and her talent I would never have become the man I am today. That’s not even to mention her generosity and loyalty when it has come to supporting everything that I have done in the years since Harry Potter. She’s just a wonderful human being and I consider myself so privileged and honoured to call her a friend. Happy birthday, Jo.”

Awwwww. Little Neville Longbottom has turned into a real catch, you guys. Matthew Lewis is going to make a very good husband someday.
