
Michael Shannon
Michael Shannon (born August 7, 1974) is an American actor and musician from Lexington, KY. Known for his onscreen intensity, Shannon has worked with some of the film industry's best directors including Sam Mendes, Werner Herzog, and Jeff Nichols. He has appeared in all Nichols' films: 'Shotgun Stories,' 'Take Shelter,' and 'Mud.' Shannon was nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for his role in the 2008 film 'Revolutionary Road.' He portrays a central figure on Terence Winters' 'Boardwalk Empire' on HBO and has appeared in many other films including '8 Mile,' 'Bad Boys II,' 'Bug,' 'Before the Devil Knows You're Dead,' 'The Missing Person,' 'Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans,' 'My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done,' 'The Runaways,' 'Premium Rush,' 'The Iceman,' and as the villainous General Zod in 'Man of Steel.' He also formed the band Corporal in 2002 with Ray Rizzo and Rob Beitzel.
