The Rolling Stones have canceled the launch of their Australian tour, originally scheduled for Wednesday evening in Perth, in the wake of designer L'Wren Scott's suicide. Scott, a former model and stylist, had been dating Stones frontman Mick Jagger for over a decade. A day after she was found hanging from a scarf in her New York City apartment, Jagger posted a public statement on her passing on Facebook.
"I am still struggling to understand how my lover and best friend could end her life in this tragic way," Jagger wrote beneath a picture of his late girlfriend. "We spent many wonderful years together and had made a great life for ourselves. She had great presence and her talent was much admired, not least by me."
"I have been touched by the tributes that people have paid to her, and also the personal messages of support that I have received," Mick added. "I will never forget her."
Scott, 49, is not believed to have left a suicide note. It has been reported that the designer was $6 million in debt.
