(Photo: Getty Images)UPDATE TO THE UPDATE: Last week
US Weekly reported
Miranda Kerr, perhaps the most recognizable supermodel on the current Victoria's Secret roster, would not be renewed as a VS Angel. Then, Victoria's Secret came out and refuted the report, saying the company had "no plans to stop working with her." But now, after the back and forth, Kerr has confirmed that she will no longer be an Angel once her current contract is up.

Speaking with the
Sydney Morning Herald, Kerr gave her side of the story. "This is a natural evolution," she said. "The thing is, I've been modeling since I was 13. I'm now entering a new phase in my life. I have felt this coming since my son was born and, after I became a mother, I realized I needed to prioritize my time."
"I'm just not in a position to commit to a full contract at this time," she added. "It's three months at a bare minimum."
In addition to motherhood, that "new phase" Kerr was talking about includes entrepreneurial efforts like a skin care line (Kora Organics), publishing her second book, and other modeling gigs for companies like Mango and Quantas.
UPDATE: Phew, that was close. After
Us Weekly reported
Miranda Kerr had been let go by the Victoria's Secret Angel squad (see below), VS rep Ed Razek has released a statement to the contrary. According to Razek, the lingerie company "has no plans to stop working with her."
"[Miranda] is also a consummate professional," he told
E! news. "Any rumors to the contrary are simply untrue. While her international commitments have kept her away from us more than we'd like over the past few years, she will always be an Angel to me. We have no plans to stop working with her. In fact, I've already invited her to walk the runway in this year's fashion show and, happily, she's agreed."
Original Story: It takes a special kind of elite supermodel to earn Angel status, and apparently it takes an even more special kind of elite supermodel to
stay an Angel.
According to
US Weekly, Victoria's Secret has decided to strip
Miranda Kerr of her VS Angel title by not renewing her three-year, $1 million contract. The Aussie model with that killer bod and trademark dimples can still do the VS catalog at a day rate, but she certainly won't be rocking one of those
million dollar bras at the big annual Victoria's Secret fashion runway show.
Why the split? One source claims Kerr "has a difficult reputation," while another says she's "not a big seller for VS," unlike fellow Angels
Candice Swanepoel and
Alessandra Ambrosio. (How they determine which model sells more clothes, I have no idea.)
RIP Miranda Kerr as Angel. You will be missed. Now you have more time to spend with your adorable child and
elvish husband.
