"Oh my bows!" Revivals aren't always rainbows and butterflies.
Feeln's modernized version of the iconic '80s cartoon, Rainbow Brite,
will feature a Cher Horowitz version of the title character and her stereotypically gay talking horse
verbose stallion, Starlite. Emily Osment
and Molly Ringwald
will lend their voices as Brite and the Dark Princess, respectively.
"With Rainbow Brite
, we believe we have created something that captures the essence of the original series—but with a vision that resonates today," said Iris Ichishita, head of original entertainment at Feeln.
Apparently outdated slang like "this is rad" is the vision that continues to resonate with today's youth (as seen in the trailer). That being said, there is a reference to the famous otter hand-holding video below that we're certainly not complaining about.
So what are your thoughts? Are you mourning the latest bruise to your childhood memories? Or will you secretly be watching? Check out the trailer and sound off in the comments!
