(Getty Images)more pics »The Backstreet Boys' Nick Carter has lived through way more than your average thirtysomething, having achieved international superstardom before he was old enough to drink legally. He also dated Paris Hilton, developed a heart condition, and lost his younger sister Leslie to a suspected overdose. The man has enough material for at least half a soap opera season, so his upcoming memoir Facing the Music is bound to be a juicy read.

A description on the book's pre-order page at Amazon describes it as an "autobiography and self-help hybrid in which [Carter] chronicles his struggles with a dysfunctional family and the unimaginable rigors of becoming an internationally successful pop-star at the age of 12." Topics covered include his battle with addiction, his health woes, and his complicated relationship with his family. Carter, who engaged to his longtime girlfriend Lauren Kitt, is currently estranged from his little brother Aaron.

Facing the Music is in stores September 24.
