No, this is not another poorly-made meme.
Way back in the day, Nicolas Cage was set to star in Tim Burton's Superman Lives, a sort of anti-superhero film in which we'd have seen the death of superman via villian "Brainiac," only to see him brought back by "The Eradicator." This storyline would have been more along the lines of the original comics.

Needless to say, this movie would have been badass.
Unfortunately, the project fell through. On the bright side, we did get these moderately amazing screenshots of Nicolas Cage (now going viral), who was set to portray Superman in the '90s film's production. So there's a win.

The crowdfunded documentary's trailer features a crew full of individuals who sincerely view the defunct Superman Lives as a missed opportunity.
Though there was a limited theatrical release on May 1st of this year, the documentary will release internationally on July 9.
But the real question is, how would Superman have felt about all this?
