Who said award shows are boring?

During the Critics' Choice Awards on Sunday, January 13, four actresses tied in two major categories, and their reactions were inspirational.

Lady Gaga was honored with Best Actress in a Motion Picture for her performance in A Star Is Born. She went on to tie in the category with Glenn Close, who won for her performance in The Wife.

The tie was especially delightful because Close won the Golden Globe award for Best Actress in a Drama the week prior (some fans felt Lady Gaga deserved the honor).

"I am so thrilled it’s a tie, I can’t tell you," Close shared. "I was thinking that, you know, the world kind of pits us against each other in this profession and I know that from all the women in this category, and I think I can speak for all the women in this room, we celebrate each other."

"We are proud to be in this room together," she said.

"I’m so very happy that you won this this evening," Gaga told Close. "This is a tremendous honor." She went on to acknowledge her ASIB co-star, Bradley Cooper.

"Bradley, you are a magical filmmaker, and you are just as magical of a human being," she said. "I’ve never had an experience with a director or an actor like I had with you and I will cherish it forever."

Amy Adams (Sharp Objects) and Patricia Arquette (Escape at Dannemora) also tied for Best Actress in a Movie Made for TV or Limited Series.

"I want the other girl up here," Adams said when she reached the stage and read the winner card. "The other woman! Can I read it?"

She announced Arquette's name and waited until the star met her on stage.

"I actually can’t think of a more beautiful thing than a tie," Adams said, "because there really isn’t a winner when we get to do such great work and we have such wonderful opportunities. I’m overwhelmed. I have so many people to thank, but I don’t want to take it up."

Arquette was also thrilled.

"I want to thank Ben Stiller," she said, "our incredible, courageous director who really let us explore and remove the yoke from my neck that I felt I’ve carried my whole career of, 'But is she likable?' Thank you for taking that off my neck. It was really heavy for me to carry that long."

"Thank you Showtime for this," Arquette continued. "A lot of friends of mine who might be bigger body type said, ‘Thank you. For once in my life, I got to see a bigger boned woman or a different body type woman be sexual, unapologetic and not have it be a fetish or a joke.'"

Arquette also won the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a TV Movie or Limited Series.

Listening to the four shower praise on each other was a joy, and a great example of the unique way women can lift each other up — especially when under pressure.

Congratulations to Gaga, Close, Adams, and Arquette!
