Seattle coach Jim Mora was fired Friday, and Carroll had apparently showed interest in coaching the team and met with CEO Tod Leiweke Sunday.  Despite reports that a formal deal could be signed Monday, many outlets, including the Daily News, the Times, NFL.com and ESPN, had earlier reported that Carroll had reached a deal with the team.

If he does sign with the Seahawks, it will be the coach's third NFL stint. He previously coached the Jets and Patriots. It's also been rumored that Carroll will bring with him offensive coordinator Ken Norton and linebackers coach Jeremy Bates.
