Philip Seymour Hoffman Dies at 46

Getty ImagesPhilip Seymour Hoffman was found dead in his New York City apartment Sunday morning at the age of 46, reports the New York Daily News. While details about the actor's passing are still developing, sources allege that he died of a drug overdose.

Hoffman was said to have been found by a concerned friend at about 11a.m. this morning. He was reportedly alone at his Greenwich apartment, and, according to some, there were very obvious signs of a heroin overdose. This has not been confirmed by officials.

The star had struggled with drug addiction over the years, but had been clean for 23 years before falling off the wagon back in 2012. He had most recently checked into rehab back in May.

Hoffman last starred in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and was filming the third and fourth movies in the series. In 2012, he was nominated for an Oscar for his role in The Master and won in 2005 for his role in Capote.

Hoffman leaves behind his longtime love Mimi O'Donnell and their three children.
