It's kind of hilarious when someone like Adam Levine starts proselytizing about music, and even more hilarious when one of his pop contemporaries calls him out for it.
That's what happened this weekend, when Levine offered up this thinly veiled criticism on Twitter:
"I unabashedly love writing and performing pop music for both myself AND everyone around me," Levine added. "That's It. It doesn't need any extra sauce."
It didn't take long for fans to assume Levine was referring to Lady Gaga, who churns through an assortment of iconic images — both her own and others' — in the music video for "Applause." Naturally, word got around to Gaga, who had this to say:
