goes to jail, no one will be surprised by his lavish “cell,” a.k.a. some luxury beach-front property in Miami. That’s just how things work out when famous people get locked up, it seems.
Not so much for hangers-on though. To wit: Anne Hathaway
’s Italian ex-boyfriend, Raffaello Follieri, who was arrested last June for lying about to the Vatican
to secure a real estate scheme. He got 4.5 years for that one and, according to a from his lawyer, is not enjoying his new incarceration, describing them as “unspeakably unsanitary.”
According to the letter: He says that he cannot eat because the food appears to be spoiled and that the toilet and shower facilities are unspeakably unsanitary.
There is excrement in the shower and rats are roaming freely in the area. He says the stench is intolerable.
The Zac Braff
look-alike has been held in a windowless dormitory with 120 other men and really really wants to be moved.
This is what happens with you bilk $2.4 million from heavy-hitting investors like supermarket billionaire Ron Burkle, who bought Follieri’s story that he could purchase the Catholic Church’s real estate at a reduced price because of his connection. In retrospect, Burkle should have known better. But still…
When he was arrested in June, Hathaway was “shocked.”
They looked so happy together:
