Sandra Bullock has revealed that she has adopted a second child, a three-year-old girl named Laila.

In a new People magazine cover story, the actress shares that she fostered Laila before adopting her, and that protecting the little girl's privacy was of paramount importance.

The private process of fostering and adopting Laila almost became a public affair after a trip to the emergency room before the adoption had been finalized.

"Unbeknownst to me, a photographer had followed us and taken a photo of us in line," Bullock shares. "The next day, I learned that a photo of her was being shopped around for sale to every outlet around the world. I had promised and legally agreed to protect her from something like this, and here I was chasing down lawyers — having them begging them to keep her safe.”

But, says Bullock, Laila has been a wonderful addition to her family, which also includes son Louis, 5, who the actress adopted in 2010. "When I look at Laila, there's no doubt in my mind that she was supposed to be here. I can tell you absolutely, the exact right children came to me at the exact right time."

Congrats to the Sandra and Louis on the new addition to their family!
