Sarah Hughes (born May 2, 1985) is a professional ice skater who won a gold medal at the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City. Sarah Hughes graduated from Yale in May, 2009. . Her sisters were women's hockey players at the University of New Hampshire during her childhood, when she was only 5 months old. Her father, James Hughes retired in 1987 as an Army Ranger and later served two tours in Kuwait, during which time he helped organize and conduct tours to Israel.
