Marvel has yet to headline one of its many superhero films with a female star, but that hasn't stopped Scarlett Johansson from getting paid like a headliner. According to (not super reliable) reports circulating around the web, Johansson negotiated a $20 million payday for playing Black Widow in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

This Forbes writer says that number is totally plausible given how much value she adds to the franchise as (A) Marvel's sole female costumed hero, and (B) the only actor in the ensemble besides Robert Downey, Jr., who's proven she can carry a movie on her own. By the way, RDJ is still the franchise's top earner. He's previously confirmed that he made about $50 million for the first Avengers movie thanks, in part, to a generous back-end deal. It's estimated he made a little less on the sequel, but still brought in $40 million.

Anyway if this is true, then ScarJo and RDJ have both been going to bed at night on that most comforting of uncomfortable surfaces, a giant pile of money.
