Somebody pinch us please.
Variety reports that Beyonce, her royal highness, is a "top choice" to voice Nala in Jon Favreau's upcoming live-action remake of The Lion King. Ummm, seriously, what did we do to deserve such wonderful news?
According to those close to the situation, Queen Bey has yet to make a decision regarding the film, because, you know, pregnant with twins. However, Variety also revealed that the studio and director are doing "whatever it takes to accommodate her schedule," which makes sense because Beyonce is pretty much the end all be all of Celebrity A-Listers. It doesn't get much more high profile than this.
If Bey gives the go-ahead (and we hope she does), she'll join Donald Glover (who is set to voice Simba) and James Earl Jones, who is reprising his role as Simba's dad, Mufasa. Please, oh, please make this happen!
Putting aside my fangirl fantasies for a quick second, I'd like to turn your attention to more practical matters regarding this highly anticipated film. Specifically, how the hell is this live-action remake of The Lion King, a film that stars zero humans, going to ultimately look? Will Favreau meld Beyonce's face on the body of a CGI lioness? Questions abound. Until then, we wait further news with bated breath.
