After searching through several female directors, Variety reports that the Marvel studio has finally landed on Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck to direct their first female-led Marvel Universe film, Captain Marvel.
Boden and Fleck's past work includes directing 2015 Mississippi Grind, and they also co-wrote the 2006 film Half Nelson, starring Ryan Gosling.
During last year's Comic-Con, Marvel announced that Oscar-winning actress Brie Larson was set to play Carol Danvers, an Air Force pilot whose DNA is fused with that of an alien during an accident and is given superpowers, eventually becoming "Captain Marvel." Meg LeFauve (Inside Out) and Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy) have been hired on to write the script.
Captain Marvel movie is set to hit theaters on March 8, 2019.
