Be still our hearts.

Sam Heughan – also known as the finest Scottish actor to ever bless the small screen – is rumored to be in contention for the role of James Bond.

While doing a live stream on his Facebook page, Heughan was asked if he was willing to play the iconic spy.

"Well if you would like me to, of course I will. I feel like I’ve got the tuxedo and I’ve got the car from this movie so I could just take them with me."

See, Hollywood casting directors, the man already has it all!

"So, really actually they don’t need to pay me that much because I can bring everything with me," Heughan rationalized.

In a separate interview with the Sunday Post, the 38-year-old actor said he'd
"always wanted to play James Bond. It’s a part of every British actor’s legacy."

Heughan has even put some thought into the role.

"I would like to see a young Bond in Scotland," the actor continued. "Let’s see the beginning, the origin. Look, Bond is a bit of a dinosaur, isn’t he? Daniel Craig began to get an emotional depth to him and maybe we could go further with that."

And, boy-oh-boy if anyone can do emotional depth it's the man who plays Jamie-Frikin'-Fraser. Plus, Heughan understands the balance needed to both entertain and compel:

"Someone can do the action, and it’s a lot of fun, but [the person playing Bond] must also have gravitas. He must also have a 'who is he?' and 'why is he who he is?'"

Well, we're sold.

We mean, look at that damn face.

Though, don't get too excited just yet. Daniel Craig is slated to do one last Bond film before he hangs up his gun, which is due out sometime in 2019. So, even if Heughan gets the role, it'll be a minute before we see him all suited up.
