"As we all know, she comes from a very talented family and this gets us one degree closer to Kevin Bacon," said HFPA President Theo Kingma at an event at the time of the announcement. (He'd probably been waiting to use that line for weeks.)
Anyway, it's a big honor and one that can potentially catapult you into the spotlight, for the night, at least. At the 2013 show, Mr. Golden Globe

This time around, we've already got you covered before the festivities tonight. Here are five things to know about your new Miss Golden Globe.
She can drink at the show. She's 21. But she probably won't be chugging champagne like some of the other attendees, since she'll be required to be on the stage to hand out awards and make sure the celebs don't linger too long after accepting their statues. Once the show's over, all bets are off.
She's dabbled in acting. Sosie made her acting debut in the 2005 movie
Loverboy, which her dad directed, and has also starred on her mom's TV show,
The Closer.
She has at least one tattoo. This blown-over tree ink was visible through her dress at the InStyle/Golden Globes event Thursday night.
She's named after an art director. Sosie was born shortly after Sedgwick filmed
Miss Rose White and named her after the movie's art director. "My name means 'evergreen' in Armenian," she said in an
online bio.
She's a college student. Ms. Bacon will graduate from Brown University in 2014. She also belongs to a NYC theater company called
CAP21, which has noteable alumni like
Kristen Bell,
Anne Hathaway, and
Lady Gaga.
