Sterling K. Brown made Golden Globes history on Sunday as the first Black male to win the award for Best Lead Actor in a TV Drama. Brown, who earned the honor for his role as Randall Pearson in NBC's This Is Us, went on to recite the most kick-ass speech of the night.

Following a round of gracious thanks, the actor acknowledged This Is Us creator, Dan Fogelman.

"Throughout the majority of my career, I've benefited from colorblind casting, which means, you know what, hey, let's throw a brother in this role, right? Really cool," he said. "Dan Fogelman, you wrote a role for a black man, that could only be played by a black man... and so, what I appreciate so much about this thing is that I've been seen for who I am and being appreciated for who I am, and it makes it that much more difficult to dismiss me, or dismiss anybody who looks like me."

In 2017, Brown won an Emmy for his performance in Season 1 of the show. He also received both an Emmy and a Golden Globe nod for his performance as Chris Darden in The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story.
