No, you're not seeing double.
In an upcoming throwback episode of The CW's Riverdale, the town's kids portray their parents. Actress Camila Mendes plays the high school version of her "mom," Hermione Lodge (Marisol Nichols), Madelaine Petsch plays Penelope Blossom (Nathalie Boltt), and Ashleigh Murray plays Sierra McCoy (Robin Givens). Without a doubt, the most convincing portrayal of all is Lili Reinhart's take on her on-screen mama, Mädchen Amick's Alice Cooper. The two look alike to begin with, but after a short makeover, it's difficult to tell them apart.
As fans know, Amick is one of the more experienced actresses on the series, and back in the day, she starred as Shelly in the classic drama Twin Peaks. In order to prepare for her throwback role, Reinhart studied Amick's performance as Shelly.
"I work with Mädchen all the time," Reinhart told Vulture in September. "I know her mannerisms, I know the way that she works. Young Alice is so different from older Alice, so I didn’t have the pressure of having to be exactly like the same person, because she’s so different as a younger Serpent."
"I do my own makeup on the show this season," the 22-year-old continued, "and I was definitely looking a lot of Twin Peaks photo references to make sure that I got the eyebrows right. The Mac lip pencil Spice I use, she used back in the day. So, yeah, I did my research!"
Thanks to Entertainment Weekly, fans got a sneak peek of the kids' transformations, and we can't wait to see this episode play out.
In August, Zimbio reported Mark Consuelos's son, Michael Consuelos, was cast as the high school version of his dad's character, Hiram Lodge.
The episode, which is titled "The Midnight Club," is based on The Breakfast Club and will reveal more details on the town's parents. Thus far, the show has focused on Archie, Betty, Veronica, Jughead and the rest of the gang, so there's a lot to be revealed.
"The Midnight Club" airs on Halloween.
