Once a Liar, always a Liar.
Freeform is giving a makeover to the Pretty Little Liars world by moving from Rosewood to Beacon Heights. The network announced that both Sasha Pieterse and Janel Parrish will reprise their roles as Alison DiLaurentis and Mona Vanderwaal respectively. As of now, the drama has only received a pilot order.
Here’s the official description of the new series: “Everything about the town of Beacon Heights seems perfect, from their top-tier college to their overachieving residents. But nothing in Beacon Heights is as it appears to be. The stress of needing to be perfect leads to the town’s first murder. Behind every Perfectionist is a secret, a lie and a needed alibi.”
The PLL spin-off is based on the book series The Perfectionists which launched in 2014 and is also penned by PLL author Sara Shepard.
“I’m beyond excited to continue my collaboration with Sara Shepard, Alloy, Freeform and Warner Horizon,” stated I. Marlene King, who wrote the pilot and will executive produce The Perfectionists. “I can’t wait to introduce our fans – and Sasha and Janel – to a new world of thrills and chills in Beacon Heights.”
It’s unclear how The Perfectionists will transition from the PLL series finale since Emily and Ali finally received their happy ending. Will #Emison still be a thing or will they be separated and sharing custody of their twin babies? Is Mona still keeping Alex and Mary Drake captive in her life-size dollhouse? Let’s hope this new series will do a better job of tying those loose ends together and answering age-old mysteries unlike PLL.
