Do you hear that? It's the aching cries of diehard Brooklyn Nine-Nine fans over this horrible news.
After surviving an untimely demise, Brooklyn Nine-Nine was resurrected by NBC. Unfortunately, the comedy is taking a surprising hit in Season 6. On Wednesday, Chelsea Peretti announced that she will be leaving the series and will not be completing a full season of filming. Peretti clarified that she will return in a guest-starring capacity,
If you love Brooklyn Nine-Nine, you know that Gina Linetti is an integral member of the Nine-Nine precinct. Her freaky and gloriously unpredictable antics are etched into the show's DNA, and she is the perfect comedic partner in crime.
Seriously, how will the show go on without Gina? Who will make cold-hearted digs about Amy's people-pleasing personality or Charles' dumpster-fire life choices? Gina is basically the human version of an emoji wrapped in several layers of internet memes. We love her, and we will miss her most ardently.
In Season 5, Peretti went on maternity leave and was not featured in a majority of the episodes. At the time, the show explained that Gina had quit her job to run a sports league for other people's pets. Of course, she returned because Gina has the attention span of a hamster. This time, though, Gina's departure is very much real.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine co-creator Dan Goor penned an emotional goodbye to Chelsea and Gina.
What do you think about this news? Are you shocked to hear of Peretti's exit? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
