The plot thickens.
According to Deadline, Naomi Watts will star in the forthcoming Game of Thrones prequel which will explain what happened in Westeros thousands of years before Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen set their eyes on the Iron Throne.
Unfortunately, few details have been released about who Watts will be playing. Even the name of the character is being withheld, although we know that she is a charming socialite who is hellbent on concealing a dark secret.
The untitled prequel's official logline states: "Taking place thousands of years before the events of Game of Thrones, the series chronicles the world's descent from the golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour. And only one thing is for sure: From the horrifying secrets of Westeros' history to the true origin of the white walkers, the mysteries of the East, to the Starks of legend... it's not the story we think we know."
Given the prequel's timeline, none of the stars of Game of Thrones will appear on the new series. We could see how the House of Stark (which was founded by Bran the Builder) and the House of Lannister (which was founded by Lann the Clever) came to be.
The prequel is created by writer Jane Goldman (Kingsman: The Secret Service, Kick-Ass) and George R.R. Martin. The upcoming project is expected to begin filming in early 2019.
