Editor’s Note: Shannon Doherty played Prue Halliwell on Charmed for three seasons. An earlier version of this article claimed she starred on the series for eight seasons.

A little kindness can go a long way.

Shannen Doherty knows this all too well, which is why the actress spoke out against the avalanche of criticism endured by The CW reboot of Charmed. Doherty, who played Prue Halliwell for three seasons on the original series, came to the new show's defense during a Q&A at Comic-Con Paris.

When the The CW reboot was mentioned, the crowd started booing immediately. Doherty took the opportunity to shed some light on the matter and express her opinion on why the negativity around the Charmed reboot needs to simmer down.

"I have seen a lot of people be very mean and very negative and cruel to the new show and the new cast," Doherty stated. "I want to remind everybody that these are three girls who just want to act. They got a huge opportunity, and I would implore everybody to be a little bit kinder."

In fact, Doherty spoke about the positive influence the Charmed reboot has brought about because it focuses on three strong women. She also thanked the fans for their unflinching loyalty and how they made Charmed such a success.

"You have to think about what Charmed did for you when it was on and think about what that's going to do for a new generation," Doherty added. "Embrace it, you guys. It's doing well, ratings-wise, and it's employing over 200 people."

Although Doherty has nothing but kind words for The CW reboot, her former co-stars Holly Marie Combs and Alyssia Milano definitely don't feel the same way. Both have publicly denounced the Charmed reboot, stating that it is not necessary.

"It was such a big part of our lives, so it's hard for us to accept that somebody else is doing it," Milano told E! News. "But not anything personal or creative about that, just that it was us, it was huge, personally it's hard to see it sort of move on without us."

Sarah Jeffery, who stars as Maggie on The CW series, took to Twitter to express her gratitude over Doherty's support.
