Taylor Kitsch is heading back to television with a buzzy new role.
Deadline reports that the
Friday Night Lights alum has been cast in Ryan Murphy's HBO adaptation of
The Normal Heart, the Tony-winning play by Larry Kramer. Kitsch joins an already star-studded cast that includes Julia Robert, Mark Ruffalo, Matt Bomer, and Jim Parsons, reprising his role from the 2011 Broadway revival.
Kitsch will play Bruce Niles, a closeted banker who becomes an AIDS activist.
Pushing Daisies' Lee Pace previously played the role on stage.
The Normal Heart is set to debut on HBO in 2014.
