A Taylor Lautner
push-up contest sounds like a completely awesome idea, but the headline-grabbing legal maneuvering won't work this time. On Monday afternoon Taylor's lawyers issued a statement declining an RV dealer's offer to settle a pending court case in a battle of brawn. PREVIOUSLY
Taylor is currently suing Brent McMahon of McMahon's RVs in Irvine, CA, for failing to provide a $300,000 trailer on time while he was filming the upcoming film Abduction
. On Monday morning, McMahon held a press conference where he proposed a push-up contest. If Taylor won, Brent would give Taylor the $40,000 settlement sought by his lawyers. Brent said that if he won, he would donate the $40,000 to the Children's Hospital of Orange County.
Unfortunately it was never meant to be.
Lautner lawyer Robert Barta basically says in a statement issued Monday that his client isn't going to participate in some hair-brained scheme to wrangle good publicity out of a bad situation. Taylor Lautner: Push-up machine? (Bauer Griffin)
The statement reads: "McMahon's RV's response to our client's legitimate claim further demonstrates the lack of professionalism that Mr. McMahon, his company and his employees have exhibited from the outset, and that compelled the filing of this lawsuit in the first place."
The letter goes on to say that Taylor would gladly settle the suit if McMahon donated the $40,000 to the Children's hospital, but nope, there will be no Taylor Lautner push-up contest.
Just for the sake of fostering healthy intellectual debate, we've built a poll designed to find a champion worthy of such a contest. Enjoy! Taylor Lautner Pictures
