(Getty Images)more pics » Michele Ghent-Howard and Terrnece Howard Terrence Howard's estranged wife Michelle Ghent-Howard has obtained a temporary restraining order against him, claiming the actor verbally and physically abused her throughout their brief marriage. Terrence and Michelle wed back in January of 2010, and based on Michelle's legal papers, it was only shortly thereafter that her new husband began beating her and lobbing death threats her way with regularity.
Michelle Ghent-Howard filed for divorce from the Hustle & Flow star in February, but took things further this month with a restraining order. In the legal paperwork Michelle filed, she claims her soon to be ex-husband once "slugged me across the face and neck" chipping her tooth with his wedding ring.
"Despite my efforts to remove myself physically from (Terrence's) life, his periodic mood swings from anger, threats and violence to statements of love and requests for reconciliation continue and have not subsided,"Michelle's claims state. She even accuses Terrence Howard of threatening her to over a hotel balcony.
Terrence Howard released a statement maintaing that he has never threatened or assaulted Michelle, who he accuses of stopping at nothing to ruin his good name. The actor wrote "I live in constant fear of Michelle's endeavors to ruin my reputation; even providing this declaration may well lead to my being subjected to a paparazzi blitz which would not be good for my career."
This isn't the first time Howard has found himself in a domestic abuse scandal. Howard's first wife of 12 years Lori McCommas, called the police in 2001 after an argument on the phone that resulted in Howard threatening to "come over and hurt [her]." According to the police report, Howard grabbed the victim’s left arm and punched her twice with a closed fist in the left side of the face.” Howard plead guilty to disorderly conduct, and McCommas filed for divorce two years later.
