After much back and forth over who would walk Meghan Markle down the aisle, 'tis finally been confirmed: Prince Charles will give Markle away at her wedding to Prince Harry.

"Ms. Meghan Markle has asked His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales to accompany her down the aisle of the Quire of St George's Chapel on her Wedding Day," Kensington Palace said in a statement.

The Palace also confirmed Prince Philip would be in attendance at the wedding tomorrow. There was previously question as to whether the 96-year-old would have to sit out due to his hip replacement surgery last month.

You may recall, Markle's father Thomas was all set to walk his daughter down the aisle. Then, just a week ago the Mail on Sunday reported Thomas Markle had staged the paparazzi photos of him preparing for his daughter's upcoming nuptials.

Thomas Markle spoke to TMZ and reportedly said: "He [didn't] want to embarrass the royal family or his daughter."

In addition, Meghan's father said he'd suffered a heart attack in recent days and would have to undergo surgery – though, from all accounts it was the paparazzi photo debacle, and not the heart attack, which ultimately deterred Mr. Markle from attending his daughter's nuptials.

Yesterday, Meghan Markle released a statement via Kensington Palace confirming her father would not a part of her wedding to Prince Harry.

"I have always cared for my father and hope he can be given the space he needs to focus on his health," read the statement, in part.

In the wake of Thomas Markle's absence, many speculated Meghan's mother Doria Ragland would be the one to escort the bride on her big day. And though this break with tradition would've felt progressively symbolic, it makes sense why Prince Charles should take up the honor.

For one, it's likely over a billion people will tune into tomorrow's wedding and Prince Charles is far, far more comfortable under the public spotlight than Markle's mom, an L.A.-based yoga teacher and social worker. This isn't Charles' first rodeo, neither. In 2016, he walked the goddaughter of Princess Diana down the aisle, so we know the man is up to the task. In fact, we think it's rather sweet Prince Charles will escort Prince Harry's bride down the aisle. After all, the Prince has no daughters of his own.

Alright, folks, less than 24 hours now! Now that we know who will escort Meghan dow the aisle, the only question left is, what on Earth will her dress look like?!
