We all know Tiny Fey
is hilarious, and now she's getting some official documentation to prove it. The comedienne is being honored with the highest humor prize, the Kennedy Center for the Performing Art's Mark Twaine Prize for American Humor. That mouthful just means Fey is as funny as they come. Tina Fey (Getty)
She was even clever in her statement accepting the honor: "I am truly thrilled to receive this honor. I assume Betty White was disqualified for steroid use," she wrote (via PopEater
The chairman of the Kennedy Center wasn't as clever in his praise of the 30 Rock
star: Like Mark Twain, Tina Fey offers her brilliance unconditionally," he said. "Throughout her career, she's earned legions of fans for her quick, unapologetic wit and social commentary."
She'll get the award in a ceremony to be held November 9 in Washington D.C. and can add it to her growing collection. She's won 7 Emmys, 3 Golden Globes, 4 Screen Actors Guild Awards and 4 Writers Guild of America Awards. Whew!
And, Fey is the youngest recipient of the award in the 13 years the award has been handed out to stars like Whoopi Goldberg
, Steve Martin
, and Bill Cosby
