The new trailer for Fantastic Four actually gives us a few reasons to get excited for one of this summer's sketchiest retreads. This time we get more of the plot, a little context, some great shots of the Thing, and our first peek at Dr. Doom.
Toby Kebbell, who seems forever doomed (puns!) to be acting behind a computer-generated mask, won praise last summer for playing the scheming bonobo ape Koba in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. And in this one he'll again play a major movie baddie as Dr. Doom. True to the comics, yet different in the details, this trailer shows an inter-dimensional mission gone awry, leaving Victor von Doom behind, and giving him reason to come after his heroic former friends.
All that's great, but the trailer's real money shot comes near the end as we see a stealth bomber flying through a night sky with the Thing ready to drop out of the bomb bay with no parachute. He's unstoppable! The Thing's toughness aside, it is still kind of hard to imagine a pre-transformation Jamie Bell as the "muscle" of the group. Sure he looks scrappy, but he's so tiny.
