Tom DeLay's attempt to transform himself from disgraced politician to beloved dancer starts tonight as he makes his Dancing With the Stars debut in an animal-print rhinestone outfit. For those keeping score, he'll be performing a cha-cha.
Tom DeLay and Cheryl Burke. (PoliticsDaily.com) DeLay, the most controversial personality of this season's line-up, resigned from congress in 2006. The Republican could still potentially see jail time for the corruption charges that ended his political career. But on DWTS, no one seems to have any clue about that. When asked what she thought when she was partnered with DeLay, DWTS dancer Cheryl Burke said she "had to Google," the former congressman to find out anything about him.
Politics Daily reports that DeLay was taken aback at his costume, as well as the skimpy number to be worn by Burke. But that didn't stop him from hamming it up. The congressman said he wanted rhinestones on his red animal-print costume. "Not a lot of 'em, but some to sparkle in the lights."
