Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor
was once friends with Marilyn Manson
, but the blood's gone bad. Reznor admits that he's partially to blame for the friendship's dissolution, but hints that Manson's reliance on drugs and alcohol has turned the rocker into a different person.
Reznor reportedly told music
, "[Manson] is a malicious guy and will step on anybody's face to succeed and cross any line of decency. Seeing him now, drugs and alcohol rule his life and he's become a dopey clown." Reznor continued, "He used to be the smartest guy in the room. And as a fan of his talents, I hope he gets his shit together."
Reznor's statements echo the reluctant admissions of Manson's ex-wife Dita Von Teese
, who explained that the shock-rocker's party lifestyle had drawn a rift between them. She told The Daily Telegraph
in 2007, "I wasn't supportive of his partying or his relationship with another girl. As much as I loved him I wasn't going to be a part of that."
