Vincent Gallo to Model for H&M?

Vincent Gallo must be putting his whole misunderstood, controversial auteur career on hold to make some money through endorsements. It's not foreign territory: He's done the modeling thing before, most notably with Calvin Klein. And remember his Belevedere commercial that's just pretentious enough to be irresistable to vodka drinkers who take themselves too seriously? Refresh your memory:

According to Mediabistro's AgencySpy, next up for Gallo will be megabrand H&M. They report, "In the print campaign, Gallo is standing sexily by two other sexies, of the female persuasion, in a white top and khaki pants."

Despite the fact that Vincent is coming up on his 49th year, and most H&M consumers are under the age of 25, this seems like a perfect marketing strategy. He's rugged, oh-so-artsy, and if Vincent Gallo likes it, then it must be "authentic," right? That's a hipster mentality.

And for Gallo? Seems a little like a sellout for someone who once thought well enough of himself to say: "I stopped painting in 1990 at the peak of my success just to deny people my beautiful paintings; and I did it out of spite."
